First off, I’m excited and encouraged by all your feedback on my business plan posts. Thanks for your kindness. I’m really working hard to make something out of this new media space, and in the process, I’m really excited to meet lots of new people, share YOUR passions through our conversations, and talk about YOUR plans as well as my own.
What follows is kind of a “results of all this crazy work” post, and it’s a bit braggy, but I wanted you to understand the momentum of the idea that’s driving me to want to build Grasshopper New Media. Take from this just the notion that there’s a method to my madness.
So, today’s been weird in the best of ways.
I made del.icio.us’s Popular aggregation for my post on running:

I made Netscape for Grasshopper New Media (thanks to Quasifrodo and Jon):

I made Dave Winer’s Scripting News for PodCamp.org (organized with Christopher S. Penn of the Financial Aid Podcast):

And Fat Guy Gets Fit topped 200 listeners in only 10 episodes!
I spent my ride from work to Boston talking with a friend about starting a business for bedroom communities, the old fashioned type of business, and he somehow got me hooked into the idea such that I’m going to do it. (I get a new studio space out of the deal, and he gets help, promotion, evangelism, more).
And THEN…
…I got to meet up with all kinds of cool people to meet at a geek meetup dinner that my friend Brian invited me along to attend. I got to touch base with all kinds of great souls. I shot a video interview for PodCamp with Indigo and Ben (not sure where that’s landing yet), and generally got to hear people talk passionately about their projects.
Tonight, I went over logo designs with Sonya and pitched an integral part of the business to someone I want to have run that part. Earlier, I talked with a good friend about how we should use podcasting to help him spread his agenda regarding children and special needs for the audience he needs to reach up in Maine.
I got a huge case of some new sports drink in the mail (plus a really cool tee shirt) for review for Fat Guy Gets Fit. I’ll let you know.
All in all, today made me feel like this is all worth it, and that I’ve got a potential good idea here that just needs your passion and your love, and funding and promotion and magic and … you get the point.
I’m YOUR biggest fan. Thanks to everyone who powers all these crazy endeavors in your own way, and keep offering to help out in ways that make sense to you. Speaking of which: I need a lawyer resource to talk to me about NDAs and founder’s shares of equity. Help?

Hey Chris, what a day you had! Enjoyed hearing about podcamp last night and getting a chance to rap about all that’s going on with grasshopper, pre-paid minutes/camel commerce, etc.
I haven’t seen the video yet either… hopefully it’s got enough audio to broadcast.
til the next time!
