I have been going ON and ON and ON about content networks, about the beauty of podcasting, about the ways in which great content needs to band together to make it easier for consumers to find it. Announcing: The Grasshopper Factory, a site dedicated to helping consumers find content networks, to helping creators gather together and build their own networks, a place to review the best of these networks, and also a place for advertisers and site owners to come and get access to quality content packages.
I’ve been working on the concepts behind this, and I’ve even created my first ever audio podcast program. Meanwhile, Roger has been pulling together a great custom installation of WordPress for me, complete with the layout I want (advertiser friendly), and with all the plugins, buttons, widgets and otherwise that’ll make it a much easier place to build a content network in its own right.
My First Podcast
I built a podcast called “Fat Guy Gets Fit.” The premise is that I’ve got over 30 pounds to lose, and I thought I’d turn it into a project. This will be very similar to the material you could read on [chrisbrogan.com] from late 2003 into 2004. I’ll cover fitness, nutrition, self-esteem, all with enough humor and down-to-earth feeling that you’ll get a chance to listen along and enjoy the ride.
The alpha edition is up at Grasshopper Factory as the first content available through the site. It’s an alpha edition, which means it’s not the final format of the show, but rather a test to see that I could use all the technology correctly to get the job done. A beta follows in a few days, and then there’ll be a regular weekly audio podcast, as well as video content.
The learning process was fun, and I look forward to doing more audio and video podcast projects.
Creators Wanted
If you are a content creator (text, audio, video, webcomics) and want to gather your stuff together with others to form content networks, head on over to Grasshopper Factory to see what we’re about. I want to help content creators gather together and form networks, thus strengthening the quality of their output, and boosting their subscriber count.
I welcome any thoughts and opinions on this endeavor.
