It’s been really exciting times at New Marketing Labs lately. Over the last many months, we’ve worked on what 2011 and beyond looks like, and we’ve grown a really strong team inside the walls. So strong, in fact, that we’ve instituted some changes that impact me and others. I wanted to use my blog to make a few announcements.
Colin Bower has been promoted to president of New Marketing Labs. As New Marketing Labs is growing up and improving our focus on digital and media marketing, we’ve come to realize where we can be most helpful. Colin will work with Dave Thomas, executive director of our dashboarding, stats, and strategy work.
We’ve also launched a small (to medium) product called Red Pin Marketing (site coming soon), led by executive director, Justin Levy. If you want to stay abreast of all things small biz, Justin’s started a newsletter to keep you informed, where he’ll be announcing webinars and other information of value.
At The Pulse (you might have seen The Pulse Network, but The Pulse is the organization around that network), Tony Parham is now executive director responsible for helping companies build what we’re calling “Content, Community, Marketplace” projects (CCM).
Where Does That Leave Me?
You might have thought, “Wait, isn’t Chris president of NML?” Well, I was.
I’ve moved into a new role as Entrepreneur in Residence at CrossTech Ventures, the company that built NML, The Pulse Network, and the other projects we’ve incubated (along with Stephen Saber, Nick Saber, and a few others). In this position, I still give guidance to New Marketing Labs, but I have taken on responsibilities for our other projects as well. It better suits what’s really been happening, and it gives credit to Colin and Dave and Justin and Tony for what they’re doing in the organization as well.
The title, Entrepreneur in Residence, feels a little weird to me, but I don’t survive on titles, so I’ll just accept it for what it is. It means that I stick my nose into things and try to make them better, and I build businesses that yield results. I’ll take it, such as it is.
For those of you wondering what I do (which is a tricky one to answer, I admit), here it is:
- Entrepreneur in Residence for CrossTech Ventures (assisting NML and The Pulse Network).
- President of Human Business Works.
- Co-founder of Third Tribe Marketing.
- Professional Speaker.
(Well, and all that good family stuff).
It’s a good day and I’m proud to work with the people I do. Oh, and if you need small business help, get Justin’s newsletter.
