It’s our job to be storytellers of what we do for the world, and who we seek, and how we’ll help them. If you’re not taking your opportunity to help, to connect, to build the storyline that will guide people to understand what you have that can help them, you’re missing your chance.
Shine Your Own Bat Signal
Think of the immense opportunity. We used to have to beg or buy our way into the newspaper. Can you imagine doing that these days? And yet, when you’re given the chance to address the world, to tell an interesting story, to do anything that will build some connective tissue between you and the people you serve, what do you do?
But I Don’t KNOW What to Say!
That’s only because you haven’t been practicing. You don’t know because it’s never yet dawned on you that it’s a lot like other areas of your life. You can reach out and connect as if you’re starting a conversation. You can tell a story that you’d share with someone at dinner. You can make this very personal media serve your business, even if you’re as big as Disney, or as small as that one guy who sells that one thing.
What do you say? You help. You inform. You build value. You do something to connect. (And if you’re ever struggling for blog topics, I’ve got you covered.)
Use Your Voice to Help
Find what will help the people you serve. Give them what they need. Shine light where it needs to be shone. That’s your power. That’s your opportunity. Don’t worry if you’re not saying it well enough, new enough, whatever enough. You’re going to be just fine.
Know what gets you there? Practice.
While everyone else is worrying about “content marketing,” you can rush right past them by creating the best in personal media, and by personal, think personable. Think media that connects people in ways that make them want to know more about you, make them want to interact, that invite them to be part of the story.
What will YOU use your voice for? Who will you serve? And what do you have to share with them?
It’s exciting! I can’t wait to read and look at and listen to your thoughts.
