The folks at Blendtec sent me a Designer 725 super duper high tech smart blender. As a fitness and health guy, it’s a pretty cool thing to own. My parents own a competing brand of blender, and I’ve owned a much less expensive blender that I used to use to make smoothies until it died after about a year. So it was neat to get the chance to try it out.

For those of you who ask such things, I was not paid to write a review. They didn’t even ask me to write a review (which was weird, because they sent me a pretty expensive blender to mess around with). Yes, if someone is given something, it means you probably have a little bias towards saying something nice. No, I never just say something nice. It’s not worth it for either of us. Finally, these words are all mine, because someone asked if they were. Yes.
I was in the market for a higher level blender because my other one crapped out. I was thinking about the fact that I paid a hundred bucks for something that died pretty fast. Plus, I like that this blender has all kinds of other things it does besides just blend.
Frankly, I think it’s smarter than me. When I asked it to make a smoothie, it knew that I should probably blend the thing for about 40 seconds. If I were doing it, I probably would’ve stopped around ten.

Pretty neato, I’d say. I went back and added some Stevia to the mix after the fact because it was a little *too* unsweet for my tastes.
Blendtech is More than “Will it Blend”
I had a great talk with Michael Jensen who works at Blendtec, and it was really neat to see what he’s working on. He’s part of the content team, which you might know from their famous Will it Blend videos. Here’s Blendtec blending an Apple Watch:
But that’s not what I’m doing. I’m just making smoothies and stuff. For now. I just read on the side of the package that I can make hummus and pasta crust and things. I’m off to see what else I can mess up.
Oh, that’s one last thing. The cleaning!
